If you have ADHD, you already know the distance between what you mean to do and what actually gets done. The task that matters most sits untouched while you handle three that don’t. Mornings disappear. Good ideas stall halfway. And underneath it runs a familiar commentary — why can’t I just do the thing? — that’s usually harder on you than anyone else would ever be. That gap is exactly what ADHD coaching is built to close.
At Premier Life Therapy in West Chester, PA, I offer ADHD coaching for adults: practical, structured support that uses NLP and hypnosis to help you work with focus, follow-through, and overwhelm. To be clear about what this is — it’s educational coaching, designed to work alongside the care you receive from your doctor or prescriber, never in place of it.

ADHD isn’t laziness — and it isn’t a lack of willpower
If you’ve spent years being told to try harder, get organized, or just apply yourself, you may have quietly concluded the problem is you. It isn’t. ADHD is a real difference in how attention, motivation, and follow-through are wired — not a character flaw, and not something willpower alone was ever going to fix. Diagnosis and any medical treatment belong with your physician. What coaching addresses is everything built on top of that: the stalled systems, the avoidance, and the years of self-criticism that make an ordinary day harder than it needs to be.
I’m Dennis Carroll, a Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and a board-certified hypnotherapist. My ADHD support combines three things. Coaching keeps the work practical — building systems for starting, finishing, and staying on track that fit how your mind actually works. NLP shifts the unhelpful self-talk and stuck motivation patterns that pile up around ADHD. And hypnosis — a relaxed, focused state much closer to guided meditation than anything on a stage — helps quiet the mental noise so focus and calm come more easily.
None of this replaces medical care, and none of it claims to make ADHD disappear. The goal is to give you better tools and a kinder relationship with your own attention.
ADHD coaching when ADHD and anxiety travel together
For a lot of adults, ADHD and anxiety arrive as a pair. The missed deadlines and forgotten commitments feed a low hum of worry; the worry makes it even harder to focus, and the cycle tightens. Anxiety is the core of my practice, so this overlap is familiar ground. We can work on both at once — easing the anxious spin while building the follow-through that takes pressure off it in the first place.
What makes this ADHD coaching different
Two things set this apart from open-ended approaches:
It’s structured at 8 sessions. You’re not signing up for something indefinite. We set clear, concrete goals at the start — the systems you want, the patterns you want to change — and measure against them, so the work stays focused and you always know where it’s going.
It works on the mindset, not just the to-do list. Plenty of advice tells adults with ADHD what to do. This work also addresses the focus, motivation, and self-talk underneath whether any of it actually sticks.
Who I work with
- Adults with diagnosed ADHD who want practical support with focus, organization, and follow-through
- Adults who suspect ADHD and are pursuing evaluation, looking for coaching in the meantime
- People whose adult ADHD comes bundled with anxiety, overwhelm, or burnout
- Professionals, parents, and students juggling more than their current systems can hold
I see clients in person near West Chester and across the Philadelphia suburbs, and virtually throughout Pennsylvania. Whatever we work on together is meant to complement — never replace — the diagnosis and treatment you get from your medical providers.
If you’ve been told to “just try harder”
Most people reach me after years of that advice, half-believing they’re simply someone who can’t get it together. I’d gently suggest that’s the wrong conclusion. With the right tools — and a way of working that fits how your attention actually runs — far more is workable than it feels like right now.
The first session is complimentary — 60 to 90 minutes, no obligation. You’ll leave knowing whether this is the right fit for you.
